He was about to open the safe when a young woman in a red dress who presented herself as the lady of the house. She deceived him and convinced him to open the safe and give her the jewels in it. Two days later, he was arrested by the police. They were able to find him because he had taken off his gloves and left his fingerprints all over the safe.
