Humans chose to live near water sources through the ages because water is the essence of life. It is used for domestic purposes like drinking,washing,bathing and most importantly agriculture depends upon irrigation which can be more productive if the water sources are nearby.
Water helps in the production of electricity so most of the industries are also set up near the water sources.
