Why did India opt for a democratic set - up? How far have we succeeded in this?

India being a multi cultural country accommodate people of various diversities. This arises the chance of difference in opinion among the people on all issues with politics as well. So a democratic form of government which is run by the elected representatives of all types of people is good for a country like India.

But how far was it successfull???

the Indian Preamble published lots of promises and policies for the people. among these were the Promises of providing Liberty equality and freedom to each and every citizen of the country. But this just lies like a promise. our constitution has not been able to provide justice to most of the poor people in the country.
but then also India being a developing country it is very young and it has shown the development in the last few years as much superior to those of the Other developing countries in the world. our country which was in a back position has now come up to the 77th rank in developing countries of the world......
