Why did india opt for a democratic set-up ? In your opinion how far have we succeeded in this respect?

The reason as to why India opted for the democratic set up was that they were initially the victims of colonization.

Therefore what happened was that they lacked knowledge to form another style of government.

The style they decided to take was that which was given to them under strict supervision from the British.

India had opted for democratic set up because no one wanted to be a slave and moreover everyone would have got the equal rights if democracy was there.

Democracy has played and important role for the Indians but there are still many disadvantages that are faced by the lower classes of the society.
