why did India opt for a democratic set-up? In your opinion,how far have we succeeded in this respect ?

India opted for a democratic setup as it has several challenges to face. During the time of partition people followed diffrent cultures, religions along with number of languages. Therefore, to was important to bind together everyone and establish democracy and also ensure development and well being of entire society and not just some sections of society.
