why did India opt for a democratic setup? In your opinion how far have we succeeded in this respect.​

India opted for democratic setup bcz

India was such a diverse country with people following different religions so democary was the best way to solve this criteria. Different people were demandibg different powers so the indian government decided to become democratic so that evrybody can get equal rights and nobody can ask for a special privilege as evrybody will be equally treated. According To me, we have succeeded very much only somewhat distance is left from achieving this. Today we all live in harmony and do not discrimate.
