Oral history is the accumulation and study of archival knowledge about people, relationships, significant events, or daily life using audiotapes, videos, or transcriptions of proposed discussions. These discussions are accompanied by people who associated in or witnessed past events and whose recollections and observations of these are to be maintained as an aural background for the forthcoming generation.
The Indian historians opt for oral sources because the information granted by Oral History (OH) is unique because it accords the tacit prospect, judgments, beliefs, and perception of the interviewee in its principal structure which is more reliable than written records.
