Why did indigo cultivators revolt against the planters?

Because the Britishers forced the farmer to grow indigo bcoz it was great in demand in other countries. They see there profit. so, they forced them to grow it. Growing indigo again and again on the same field absorbs all the nutrients of soil.

indigo cultivators were not growing crops of their choices they were forced by the british to grow the crop which could gave the british better profits.
also these crops like indigo and opium were harming the soil and degrading its fertility.
