Jerome feels that he could be an asset to a class full of pupils studying medicine. Since medicine requires wide practical knowledge, students need to walk from one room to another in hospitals, visiting patients. They need to cover a wide range of maladies as well as study numerous patients diagnosed with the same illness. Jerome feels that he could save the students the trouble of walking so much. Ever since he laid his eyes on the list of illnesses and their symptoms, he had been convinced that he had each of them, barring one, in varying degrees. This made him call himself 'a hospital in myself'. Going by his conviction, he is bound to be of great use both to those pursuing medicine as well as practicing it. His visit to the doctor would 'do the doctor a good turn' because his doctor friend could even use him as a case study of sorts and benefit from his presence.
