Why did kalam mention 'every child is born with some inherited characteristics '?

While mentioning his childhood A P J Abdul Kalam expressed that every child is born with some inherited characteristics.  

He meant to say that he had special interests in particular things that nobody imbibed them in him. It was his interest.

Likewise, he means to say all are born with some characteristics that depend on the gene that depends on the socio-economic conditions to unfurl.
