khilafat movement was started in 1920 by ali brothers [ mohammad ali and shaukat ali ] ...this was started because british imposed a harsh treaty on the turkish sultan or khalifa .britishers were so rude to muslims.

khilafat movement was started in 1919. It was started by muhammad ali and shaukat ali fondly called the ali brothers.
It was begin when the britishers imposed humiliating terms on the ruler of turkey who was also the caliph of islam, this angered the indian muslims and hence, the khilafat movement was started.
