Congress session held at Lahore in 1929 is significant in Indian Freedom movement for following reasons.
Lahore session of Indian National Congress was held under the presidency of Jawaharlal Nehru.
It was held on 31st December 1929 and 1st January 1930.
The Congress Working Committee met in January 1930, & decided the following programme:
(i) Preparation for Civil Disobedience.
(ii) As per the Poorna Swaraj resolution, the word Swaraj in the Congress Constitution would thenceforth mean complete independence or Poorna Swaraj which was set forth as the goal of the National Movement.
(iii) Observance of 26th January as the 'Poorna Swaraj' day, all over the country with the hoisting of the tricolur flag.
(iv) Resignation by members of legislature.
(v) Withdrawal from all possible association with the British Government.
A pledge was drawn up, which was to be read & solemnly taken while celebrating the day.
