Answer:

She was old enough to walk to her grandmother's house and Red Riding Hood knew the way. It wasn’t Red’s mother fault that there was a wolf (read bad guy in disguise) who meet her in the story, it’s like a kid walking around their neighborhood and a stranger pulling up and stuffing the car, you can’t predict that as that neighborhood is usually safe.

Literature has to have problems, conflicts - without conflicts and problems - there would be no plot, no unfolding story.

Red Riding Hood was entrusted with a task - she was not a toddler. She was thought old enough to carry a basket to her grandmother's house and she was told to not stray from the path.

In the traditional world, children were given greater responsibilities than in the modern world. They were expected to obey their parents. If Red Riding Hood had obeyed her mother and stayed on the path, the wolf would not have had the opportunity to get to grandmother's house ahead of her.

Life comes with work and risks - Red Riding Hood's mother was teaching her daughter that life comes with its tasks and was trying to teach her how to keep safe in the world. Good parenting includes giving children reasonable tasks and certain responsibilities to prepare their children for adult life.

Hope it helps you!
