Lord Wellesley’s commercial and educational policies were often not well received by his peers and colleagues. They were constantly rejected or faced serious hurdles. As a result, he had given his resignation, more than once (these resignations had to be postponed, due to other public requirements).
Richard Wellesley (1760 – 1842) was an Irish and British politician and colonial administrator, who was the first Governor-General of Bengal during 1798 – 1805).
