 Mahatma gandhi condemned the pentagular because it was divisive in nature. it increased gaps between various religionsand at that time when all the religions had to come together and to show unity in order to fight the britishers this tournament hurted and destroyed the feeling of nationality

(ii) The colonial state and its divisive conception of India was the rock on which the Pentangular was built. It was a colonial tournament and it died with the Raj.
