Mahatama Gandhi feel the need to launch the broad base movement in 1920 [Non-Cooperation] because of the following reasons:-
- Rowlatt Act :- According to this act any indian politician can be imprisoned for 2 years without any trial conviction. Gandhiji wanted to launch broad movement against such a injustice law.
- Jaliya wala bagh incident :- On 13 April Many inocent people were killed in Jaliya Vala Bagh by British General Dyei. This resulted in widespread anger among Indians.
- Report of Hunter commitee :- Hunter Commitee which was set up to to take decision about Jaliya Wala Bagh Incident had favoured General Dyeir. Mahatma Gandhi founded it a opportunity to launch broad movement against Britishers.
