Why did mahatma gandhi's dream of clothing the nation in khadi become an appeal only to some sections of indians?

Khadi was so expensive so poor people coud not afford (buy) it

Gandhiji had mass appeal with million of Indians following him. she was so simple man and new the problem of a common poor Indians. he always believe in simple living and high thinking. he dressed himself only in Khadi sperm through Charkha. he more common people could not afford costing clothes. hence Mahatma Gandhi dream of clothing a nation in Khadi. but on the other hand some Indian leaders like Ambedkar kept on wearing Western style clothes Motilal Nehru came to wear dhoti and kurta. women like Sarojini Naidu and Kamla Nehru board printed sarees
