After the announcement of partition, violence spread to all areas of country, especially Punjab. Bengal and Bihar. People were killed in large numbers and millions became homeless. The national leaders tried their best to stop these devastations and killings. Gandhji appealed to the masses to stop the killings. The Congress realised that the partition was the only solution to this carnage. Hence, they agreed to the partition of India - INDIA and PAKISTAN.
