The non-cooperation movement was withdrawn because of the Chauri Chaura incident. Although he had stopped the national revolt single-handedly, on March 10, 1922, Gandhi was arrested. ... This led to suppression of the movement and was followed by the arrest of other leaders.

He stopped the non corporations movement as he was expecting the Indians to non cooperate with the British.... but in return some Indians non cooperated with him and burned a police station in Chauri Chaura..... this non cooperative act made him to withdraw the non cooperation moment...... Wait an irony... when he called off this movement he non cooperated with his colleagues at Congress..... In the end we can say non cooperation movement failed due to non cooperation.....
