During first world war, Turkey joined the German side , so when England won, the treaty that was made firm and unjust terms and conditions for the losing side. The Sultan of Turkey, at that time was a Khalifa -head of Muslims. The movement in India, to oppose the strict terms imposed on Turkey and the Sultan , cam to be known as khilafat movement.Ali brothers-maulana Shaukat Ali and Maulana Mohammad Ali_ were the chief leaders of the movement.

Gandhiji requested the Congress to support the Movement, keeping Hindu-Muslim unity in mind ....

Gandhi supported the Khilafat Movement because he saw it as a way to convince Muslim Indians to support Indian nationalism.❤️
