They thought that everything about the west was superior and they had no pride in their own culture 
It also created a divide between english speaking and non english speaking indians 
They began to admire british rule and made them strangers in their own land 
Speaking a foreign tongue, despising local culture, the eng. educated did not know how to relate to the masses.
