Segregation of black players started in 1867, when the Pennsylvania State Convention of Baseball - a leading Baseball body, barred African American teams from playing. Other baseball associations followed suit. Some years later, a leading player named Adrian Cap Anson tried to order a black player off the field.

Soon, leading white players refused to play with teams that had black players in it and African American players could not participate in major league baseball.

This segregation lasted until 1947.

Major League baseball owners supported Segregation in 1890 purely due to business reasons. hey believed that White people won't come to watch the matches if African American players play the match.

As a result of which their business will suffer drastically and they will suffer huge losses. Hence they decided to support segregation.
