Man started corrupting the environment for various reasons as mentioned below:

➡️Ignorance: Man is quite ignorant. He becomes wiser only after facing the pain of consequences of his follies. He started corrupting environment recklessly leading to outcomes that are irreversible.

➡️Greed: Our planet has abundance of natural resources. Man in order to just earn huge profits without paying any heed to other aspects exploited environment to gratify his avarice. He cut trees, polluted water bodies, and the air just to earn huge profits.

➡️Industrialization and Urbanization: Individual profits led to corporate profits that further led to national profits; the rate of corrupting the environment kept on increasing. Mass cutting of trees, mass burning of fossil fuels further deteriorated the environment.

➡️Development of Technology: Undoubtedly man developed new technologies, but they were also profit centric. This also led to corruption of environment.

Now when the environment has become endangered, a few men have realized their mistake and are making efforts to save the environment. However, the number of men who corrupt the environment is far more than those who want to save it.

Humans started corrupting environment because of economic, social, and political reasons. They started to corrupt the environment since they began to interfere in the ecosystem in search of resources. In history, environmental degradation and human development occurred side by side. The event of human settlements in a particular areas and domestication of animals and crops led to the cutting large swaths of forest areas. The industrial revolution inflicted great damage to the environment. Hydrocarbon pollution and increased level of Co2 in the atmosphere are due to the high level of energy demands. It is noted that humans' relationship with the ecosystem has always been negative.
