The flood situation in Maharashtra caused due to heavy rains since July 24 over Marathwada, Konkan-Goa, Madhya Maharashtra flooded the river catchment of Bombay Island Basin including Ulhas River and sub- basin of Wardha River , and Godavari River and upper stream catchment areas of river Kal and Savitira.

The coastal districts in Maharashtra: Mumbai Metropolis, Thane, Ratnagiri (Mandangad, Dapoli, Chiplun, Ratnagiri, Guhagar, Sangameshwar, Lanja and Rajapur) talukas) , Raigad (Panvel, Pen, Khalapur, Karjat, Alibag, Murud, Roha, Sudhagad, Tala, Mangaon, Shrivardhan, Mhasla and Poladpur talukas) and Pune (Maval, Khed, Velhe and Daund talukas), Sindhudrug(Kudal, Kankavali, Deograh, Vengural, sawantawadi, Malawan, VAibabhawadi, Doamarg Taluka), Parbhani, Nanded and Hingoli were affected including North and South Goa districts.

River Godavari at Nanded and River Wardha at Ballarsha are flowing at warning level. Ulhas river near Ulhasnagar is flowing at warning level. In Mumbai 25 million people have been affected. While in Goa (north and south districts) 340,000 persons and 1.00 ha of cropped land were affected. While rivers in Goa where water level is exceeding warning levels are Madei (Ganjem), Khandepar (opa Weir), Valvanti (Sanquelim Bridge) Bicholim (Nr Shantaduurga H school Bridge) Sal (Mungal Bridge)

Thane - Badlapur, Kalyan Dambriballi, Ambarnath, Bhiwandi, Ulhasnagar

Raigad - Mahad, Panvel, Mangaon towns and Jui village

Ratnagiri district - Khed, Chiplun towns and Mude village

Hingoli - villages of Pardhani and Nanded

Sangli 157 villages have been affected 1478 families have been shifted to safer places 31 houses washed 1000 houses partially effected

Pune Khadagwashla dam released 20000 cusecs water with prior information Pavan Dam released 3000 cusecs of water

The State government has estimated the damage to be at Rs 20 billion covering agriculture ( 6 billion) Livestock (1 billion) Housing ( 3 billion) Infrastructure 10 billion)

Kahrif crops covering more than 300, 000 Ha in the Konkan region has been submerged

Landslide near Sakinaka (Andheri) was reported to have claimed 49 lives. Jui Village of Mahad (Raigad District) 100-150 person were trapped 2 bodies recovered details are awaited . In Ratnagiri landslide reported in Villages , Boori , Kuduk, Dapoli_Mandangad road in Kelwat ghat, Khead Taluka, Kalurte -Nawanagar village, Kamthe

Preliminary reports estimates more than 10, 000 houses have collapsed in the affected districts of Mumbai, Sindhudurg, Sangli, Ratnagiri Raigad

Infrastructure

The Civic infrastructure -Roads, Public buildings ( Primary health centers, Schools and Administrative buildings, water supply schemes were damaged which will require repairs and restoration

Power supply and telephone network is still not restored in Sub urban areas of Mumbai and Thane. In Sindhudurg 149 electric poles have been damaged

Health services affected in Ratnagiri, Raigad, Thane and Mumbai sub urban while 3 CHC in Ratnagiri, 1 PHC each in Ratnagiri and Raigad were flooded

Telecommunication: 121 telephone exchanges were affected in Ratnagiri -55, Kohlapur -8, Sindhdurg-3, Raigad 30 and Kalyan -25 also 93 GSM BTS mobile services were affected and basic services of landline are affected in Kalyan sub-urban area.
