Margie and Tommy both are shown as being neighbors and friends also.
The year was 2157 and the two kids do not go to schools as they were not having school separately but were having school at home itself.
This is due to the advancement of the year as in 2157 the schools are in the house itself with teachers being computerized and machines and books were tablets and laptops.
Margie then goes on explaining the fact that these things belongs to his grandfather’s time.
