By this experiment he wanted to know the genotype of the plant and expression of a recessive trait. He observed that the trait which not able to express itself in f1 generation can express itself in the f2 generation.

mendel conducted experiment on pea plant because

1) there is great varisity in it

2) it has a short life span (as considered to other plants

3) It was cheap and easily available

observations were

1) there was a ratio of 3:1 (tall:dwarf)

as phenotype ratio in F2 genration

2) Fi genration there were all tall plants.

parugouri2003: But bro can u also tell why had he taken pea plants for experiment of inheritance of two traits 'simultaneously'
