Miss Mebbin blackmailed and forced mrs packletide to pay her enough money to buy a week end cottage near Darking.otherwise she will spill her secret. mrs packletide had no other choice.miss mebbin became the proud owner of a cottage which she names Les Fauves which is french for the wild animals and planted tiger lilies around her cottage as a special reminder of the incident that led to her acquiring the cottage.

les fauves is the french for the wild animal.louisa mebbin got the weekend by blackmailing mrs. packletide in the incident of tiger killing.so in rememberance of that tiger killing ,she erected the name of the cottage as les fauves.
