The Most 'conservative regimes' imposed censorship laws to control printed material associated with the French revolution in 1815 because these states were autocratic and thus wanted to preserve the traditional institutions of state and society – like the  monarchy, the Church, social hierarchies etc. They were critical of French Revolution and its ideas of liberty and equality. They did not tolerate dissent and were against the ideas which questions the legitimacy of autocratic government.

For the following reasons, the 'conservative regimes' impose censorship legislation to regulate printed material associated with the 1815 Revolution in France:

1. The 'conservative regimes' did not want the ideas of suppressing the regime should reach to a mass population again. As this could lead to domestic unrest.

2. It wanted to prevent any further rebellion in the state.

3. It wanted to coat the opposing opinions of the people against the conservative regime of France.
