Why did mr bramble decide not to take part inthe boxing contest

Mr Bramble did so for the happiness of Harold. He thought that if his son Harold would came to know about his rough profession , he would be shocked or not feel happy. But he never knew that Harold had a keen interest in boxing.

because he had kept a secret from his son ,that he was not a sales manager but a boxer.And was known a syoung porkey .Mr Bramble was so afraid to reveal the truth that he kept hiding it from Harold. So he didn't took part in the boxing contest..
