Answer: Mrs Pumphrey thought that Tricki was suffering from malnutrition, as he was weak and listless. So, she started to give him extra snacks like cod-liver oil and malt between the main meals and Horlicks after dinner to make him stronger. The Brainliest Answer! Answer: Mr. Herriot knew Mrs. Pumphrey's character extremely well. She was an over-pampering character and the author knew that she hadn't the heart to keep her beloved pet dog, Tricki, on a strict diet, refusing Tricki his favourite foods. Mr. Herriot knew well how this would deteriorate his health. So, he was right to expect a call from Mrs. Pumphrey very soon.
