  • Mrs Pumphrey said so because according to her, Dr. Herriot took Tricky for some kind of surgery or operation but actually it was a therapy. Also, she didn't know about tricki's ailment but somewhere she knew that it was her fault that Tricky was getting ill day by day but being rich and proud, she used to overfeed him despite knowing it was not good for him.
