Mrs mebbin plant tiger lillies in her garden in the rememberence of the incident of tiger shooting which gave her the new house.

Mrs. Mebbin planted so many tiger lilies in her Garden so as to give a reminder to Mrs. Packletide that she knows her secret of killing the tiger. She blackmailed her that if she will not buy her the cottage of her choice, she would go and tell everyone that Mrs. Packltide killed a goat and had not killed a tiger. She wanted her to remind of her clever moves which she would take in case of Mrs. Packletide forgets about that.
