Mrs Pumphrey never took good care of Tricky in way she should have. She couldn't resist Tricky's greediness for food and would feed him as much as he could eat, which later detoriated his health. After severe warnings she finally couldn't help but give him to the narrator who was a vetenary. The narrator took Tricky to the surgery, restricted his intake and allowed him to roam around and play freely with the other dogs. Finally as promised after a fortnight Tricky went back to his owner Mrs Pumphrey and that too in the best health and shape possible.
