The Muslim league accepted the Mountbatten plan because it wanted a separate country Pakistan as soon as possible. It feared if it continued with congress any more, it would be out voted in the parliament. Also it feared that Muslims couldn't expect justice in the hands of Hindus who were in a majority in India.
