Why did Mussolini control the press and the radio?

After gaining power , Mussolini became the dice or dictator and took all the military and civil powers to himself.. all political parties except the fascists were banned and civil courts and the jury were banned too.The freedom of speech and organising meetings were also prohibited and hence , the press and radio was banned.
