hello friend!
Nationalist tensions developed in the Balkans because the Balkan states were seeking for nationalism. The Balkans was a region spanning modern-day Romania, Bulgaria, Albania, Greece, Macedonia, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Slovenia, Serbia and Montenegro. And the inhabitants lived there was called as Slavs.
the major part of the Balkans was beneath the Ottoman Empire during the 19th century.By the time Ottoman Empire was becoming weak and losing this area. The people of Balkan imaged of independence.
hope it helps!!
