The northern plains of india become extremely fertile because:

✯ Major rivers namely Indus, Brahmaputra, and Ganga flow through the northern plains.

✯ These rivers carry with them important minerals which contribute in making the soil extremely fertile.

The northern plain is very fertile because the rivers flowing from the Himalayas deposited minerals and rich alluvium in these plains, which increased it's fertility.
