The women earlier was thin but due to her policy of eating only one thing in lunch made her plumpy and doubled chin and so she wasn't recognised by author

When the narrator meet the woman he become confused after observing the lady. According to the narrator, she was not so young as he expected an in appearance imposing rather than attractive.
