The British came to India as they discovered the cheap raw materials India produced such as the spices, cotton, scents, vegetable colors. There trading company did not benefit the Indian economy because: ... (vi) British were getting involved in the Indian politics.

Trade with England didn't benefit Indian economy because The East India Company was a merchantile trade company. EIC (East India Company) dreamt of becoming nawabs and rule the country. They took over almost the whole India. They collected revenues from Indian people and use them in trade.
