1) O.Chandu Menon started translating the english novel named "Henreitta Temple" written by Benjamin Disraeli into his language Malayalam.
2) He failed to translate the novel as he thought that the lifesytle of the characters of the novel would not be familiar to the readers in Kerala.
3) So he dropped his idea and started writing his own nove in Malayalam named "Indulekha". This was the first Malayalam novel.

The people living in kerala are not familiar with the lifestyle of English people. So people didn't show much interest on reading English translated novels
