why did Oliver lutkins and his mother laugh at the lawyer (the narrator) when he served the summons? why did lutkins take him to his neighbour's house for a cup of coffee (hack driver) class 10

When the narrator served summons, Lutkins was not at all worried. On the other hand, the narrator was hurt that they laughed at him as if he were a seven-year-old boy. Then, Lutkins begged the narrator to accompany them to one of his neighbours for a cup of coffee. He said sarcastically that all the people of New Mullion had met such a (gullible and novice) person like the narrator. They were the only people in the town that missed seeing him.
