rishis or the saints mainly retired to forests so as to remove their concentration from worldly affairs to the creator or the almighty.the forests with its silence helped the saints to concentrate in their meditations.the sounds of natural streams, birds, animals etc has a very refreshing effect on the mind.moreover in the forets which were mainly away from habitations were quite places.
