they revolt against British because their sole rights were abolished by the British govt.
1) they were not allowed to cut wood from forests.
2) they were not allowed to graze their cattles.
3) they were forced to leave the forests which they had adopted as their homes since many years.
4) they were forced to work for Begar for construction works etc. .

The main cause of revolt was clearing the forest by britishers.They formed an imperial forest department in India from where a law was passed prohibiting the villagers to move inside the forest for collecting resources.As these resources were the basic needs of the villagers which made condition more tensed followed by revolt.
