Explanation:

Nepal adopts its new Constitution

The Nepalese President, Ram Baran Yadav, unveiled the new Constitution of Nepal. Nepal adopted its new Constitution that came into effect from September 20, 2015. The new Constitution, drafted by the second constituent assembly, replaced the Interim Constitution of Nepal of 2007. The new constitution focuses on secularism and democratic republic.

The country's constitution opted for peace and democracy after years of political instability and brawls. The first constituent assembly had failed to produce the constitution on time, irrespective of extensions that were given. The country was left in legal vacuum after, the Prime Minister, Baburam Bhattarai dissolved the constituent assembly due to its failure. Later, elections were held in 2013 for electing the new constituent assembly. The ministers then pledged that they would draft the constitution within a year, giving the country its closure and completing the challenge of 65 years. This is the fifth constitution which has been adopted by Nepal after 1959, 1962, 1990 and 1999.

The country has finally brought an end to the monarch system and declared itself as a secular and democratic republic. The country has been divided into various provinces and declaring itself a majority Hindu nation, Nepal been subjected to heavy criticism. This has led to strikes and violent attacks.
