Hello I can help you. :)

Not everyone but some people, mostly people of a lower varna, opposed the system if varnas because in that system the people of higher varnas were given many rights, but the peope of lower varnas had very few rights. Now let's see the different varnas of that time:
1)The brahmins-They were at the top position because they were necessary for conducting all rituals(many of them mindless).

2)The kshatriyas-They were the rulers and warriors. By conquering more lands, they become very powerful.
3)The Vaishyas-They were the traders. By earning more money by trading, they also grew powerful.
4)The shudras-This was the lowest varna and they served the other three groups. They underwent a lot of suffering under the other groups.

Earlier in the varna system, a person could choose any varna he wanted. For example- A shudra's son could become a brahmin.
But later it became hereditary and rigid. Then a brahmin's son will have to become a brahmin only and a shudra's son will have to become a shudra.

The answer has been stated below.

Explanation:

The people opposed the system of Varnas because it is one of the discriminatory forms of society. It divided people based on caste and religion. It discriminates people and violates their rights to live equal. A brahmin is considered the highest in the level. Shudras' are considered the lowest in the rank.
