Because Phule took his inspiration from the American civil war .

The cause of the war was that the president of America, Abraham Lincoln was trying to abolish the slave trade and the slave system. People of his country didn't like his ideas which led to a civil war. but however, after a long war, the slave trade was abolished. This is why Phule dedicated his book gulamgiri to American movement to free slaves. This this was also set as an example that if they can do we can do it too.
