Why did power in medieval Europe shift from kings to nobles? Nobles hired knights for protection. Nobles controlled church officials. Kings did not have nobles’ loyalty. Kings needed the serfs’ protection.

Power in medieval Europe shift from kings to nobles

Step By Step  Solution

During the A.D. 800s, this shift of the power from the kings to the nobles established a new order called  feudalism. In Europe under the feudalism, landowning nobles governed and also protected the people in return for services, such as fighting in a noble's army or farming the lands.

Despite the fact that the king had lots of power, it was  extremely difficult to stay in command when several powerful lords grouped together to diminish the powers of the King by overthrow the king. During the middle ages in Europe, the king threatened lords and nobles into serving him using federal authority and power as a threat to make them follow him.

In medieval times, the nobles hold  the real power over the Kings because the king had no army of his to command because any fighting force at his disposal was brought by the nobles, who are not stood against them.
