Answer:  Immadi Pulakeshi was an Emperor from the Chalukya Dynasty. His capital was at Badami in Karnataka. In the same time period Emperor Harshavardhana ruled entire North India from Kannauj. He wanted to expand into the South by defeating Pulakeshi. However Pulakeshi was able to successfully defeat Harshavardhan in the battle on the banks of river Narmada, thus earning him the title Dakshinapatheshwara or the Lord of the South.
