The Great Depression. People were looking for answers & solutions to solve their problems such as unemployment. Many government's were doing the best they could but they lacked the necessary resources or were facing political barriers. So people turned to people they thought best represented them and not the same "elite" who continued to live comfortably while they suffered. These conditions made it easy for the Nazi Party and other radical groups to gain popularity.
