Why did rutherford choose gold other than any other lighter element eg aluminium.Explain giving 2 reasons?

Rutherford wanted as thin sheet as possible for correct measurements....

He chosed GOLD because of it's highest malleability i.e. ability to convert into thin sheets....Hence Au was chosed......
